What's Gone Wrong?
By Rob & Louisa Forrest

Here we are, looking around today and wondering what is happening. It seems that the world is in a mess, and this country is in a place that it has not seen in a long, long, time. We are all experiencing real hardship or know those who are. How could we not ask ourselves what's gone wrong?

We are seeing shortages of food, water, and jobs worldwide. Violence is increasing around the globe at an alarming rate. Wars and rumors of wars abound, and more and more of the world is in a state of upheaval. Large populations of people are moving from place to place. More and more people are becoming concerned at what the future will bring.

Forecasts of impending natural disasters are flooding our televisions, movies and internet information sources. Will climate changes flood the earth? Will a comet hit the planet? Will solar flare-ups cause widespread loss of energy and communications systems? Is a black hole lurking in the heavens ready to pull us into its path? Can these things be stopped or are we at the mercy of some natural disaster?

Political systems are clashing, financial systems are crashing, and religious systems are in a state of flux, blowing in the wind. What are we to believe?

It seems as though the stage is being set for something big. Ominous global events are converging at this point in time. That we do know. We also know that people are looking for answers.

Have these events been foretold in the past? Many believe so and are turning to the prophecies of ancient civilizations and the seers of more modern times to find the answers. We are quickly learning of the Mayan prophecies, the predictions of Nostradamus, the visions of various oracles and the revelations of spiritual sages. What can we believe?

Jesus Christ himself spoke of the end times, and warned of coming deceptions:

"Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places." Matthew 24: 4-7

Jesus also had some words of comfort to those people of faith, who believe in his word and his mission to save them:

"But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come." Matthew 4:13-14

Although world events are beyond our control, our hearts are not.

"For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23

"For the wages of sin are death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23

The world does not control our future, we do. Jesus came to save those who believe. Do you believe?
